Youth

glad you are here

Welcome to
First Presbyterian

Within the youth at FPCG, you will find middle school and high school students with a vast diversity of talents and interests, who are involved in many things and share their time and talents with their schools, community, and the church.

In the midst of busy, hectic lives, church serves as a foundation for our youth. FPCG is a safe, welcoming place where youth know that they are free to be themselves and know they will find love and acceptance. For our youth, church is home, a place where we can come together from many different places to fellowship, worship, study and serve together. FPCG is their home where they come and rest in the assurance that they are a beloved child of God.

All youth are invited to join us as we worship, study, serve and fellowship together. Mid Highs are in 6th-8th grades. Senior Highs are in 9th-12th grades. Contact Lizzie McCallum for more information!

Sunday School

Youth Sunday School meets in the Youth Center upstairs above the Fellowship Hall. We gather at 10 a.m. each Sunday to study together and help youth build upon their faith foundation.

Sunday Youth Fellowship

Join us on Sundays for food, fellowship, and fun!  Programs differ each week in times and locations.

Trips and Retreats

We gather for outings and retreats throughout the year.  Our youth participate in Foothills Presbytery PYC (Presbytery Youth Council) events such as the Mid High Retreat each fall and the Senior High Retreat each spring.

Summer Programming

Summer is a busy time for our youth with lots of opportunities for involvement.  Mid Highs & Senior Highs participate in a week-long mission experience each summer.  Senior Highs also participate in the Montreat Youth Conference.

MID HIGHS: 6th-8th grade students

Youth Sunday School meets in the Youth Center upstairs above the Fellowship Hall. We gather at 10 am each Sunday to study together and help youth build upon their faith foundation.

Sunday Youth Fellowship

Mid Highs typically gather at various times for fellowship, service and worship experiences.  Friends are always welcome!

Confirmation

We believe that the church nurtures those baptized as children and calls them to make public their personal profession of faith and their acceptance of responsibility in the life of the church. Every year our 8th graders (and older youth who have not gone through the Confirmation process) will take a journey of faith that will explore the meaning of their baptisms, what it means to be a committed member of the church and their place within it. The curriculum used is the PC(USA) Confirmation study, “We Believe: Professing Our Faith,” along with other resources. The Confirmation process ends with a retreat and an individual mission project where the confirmand can live out the faith that she has learned over the previous year. If you’re interested in Confirmation, contact Will.
